Photograph of the bottom of the Main Staircase of Borley Rectory taken by Sidney H. Glanville during his initial visits to the Rectory in June 1937.  During his first visit to Borley on June 12th 1929, Price reported that a red glass candlestick hurtled down the stairwell & smashed to pieces on the iron stove which can be clearly seen in the photograph, followed by seashore pebbles & a piece of slate which came rolling down the stairs.  The cill of the window overlooking the courtyard can just been seen at the top of the picture.  (Reproduced from The Most Haunted House in England by Harry Price [Longman, Green & Co., 1940])
