FROZEN KNIGHTS - ROLLRIGHT, OXFORDSHIRE

Late winter sun glances the pitted and knarled surface of the Rollright Stones, a 4000 year-old Bronze Age sacred circle in remote Oxfordshire.  Local legend says that they are a bewitched army of knights petrified here by an evil sorceress.  My wife, daughter and I have stood at the centre of the circle and felt strength being sapped from our bodies, like lead weights attached to our limbs.  The people who built Rollright knew of its energy, an ancient source of unknown power.
