THE FACE OF CHRIST - ALBURY, OXFORDSHIRE

Albury is a lonely place, a hamlet of a few cottages and a church up an overgrown dead-end track.  Visitors are rare and the place seems forgotten.  Within the graveyard stands an almost life-size carved wooden figure of the crucified Christ.  Whilst I photographed here one cold foggy day, I was constantly aware of this figure watching me.  Not a caring, loving savior but instead a malevolent, vengeful man.  As night fell I was glad to leave.
